Christmas at Torquay

A trip out to see the lights
Are Christmas outing took us to the Christmas Lights at Torquay. Having parked up, we took a leisurely stroll along the water front, cameras snapping away before a quick pit stop for something to eat and drink and a warm up.

We where a mixed group of with varying photographic experience including a new member who is looking to develop their photographic skills. I won't say who, but they should of known better, turned up with only a wide-angle lens. At least it gave a unique view on things.

We've asked our newest member to write of their experiences of the evening and below are their thoughts.

“I am recovering after being really poorly for the past 20 months, I have found that photography makes me stop and look at the world in a different light and has helped my mental health even with restricted mobility.

I recently joined the Ivybridge & District Camera Club to get a better understanding of photography and to increase my basic skills. The Club had organised an outing to Torquay to take pictures of the Christmas lights which I attended. As a complete beginner on my old Nikon camera, the club was supportive and inclusive. They helped me to explore different techniques which I had never used before or even knew I could even create these types of photos, this has inspired me to try these skills at different locations which has been really exciting.

The club has also provided feedback on my photos which will only help me to develop my knowledge and skills.”
