Venture into new format
Image discussion/appraisal evening
Ivybridge & District Camera Club ventured into the unknown with a new format for their meeting on October 12th.
Adrian Harris from Exeter camera Club led an image discussion/appraisal evening reviewing a selection of members’ images with helpful comments and gentle encouragement. As the evening progressed there was a lot of audience participation and discussion which gave everyone plenty of tips for improving their photography.
As we hoped for, the event was very well received with positive messages coming in from members ranging from beginners to very experienced e.g:-
"Thoroughly enjoyed last night. Would you please pass on my thanks to Adrian."
"Fantastic group event last night. It’s what I joined a club for. Learnt so much, not only from feedback on my submissions but learning from what others have seen."
We are continuing with a mix of physical and Zoom meetings this year which allows us to hear speakers and judges from further afield to create a varied and interesting programme. In November we have a talk from Kylie Martin on the 9th (Zoom), and the first Club competition on the 23rd (Hall) finishing with the WCPF Travelling Print Exhibition in the Hall on the 30th. Further details including our programme can be found on our website: www.ivybridgecameraclub.org and details of any events or outings are posted on our facebook page www.facebook.com/groups/IvybridgeCameraClub.
Photographers of any level are welcome to join us, all you need is an enthusiasm for photography and you can come to a meeting to see what we do before committing to join. Just contact us in advance to receive a Zoom link or come along to a meeting in the hall. Normally your trial meeting is free but if there is an external speaker we make a small charge to help cover the additional cost.
The hall is a good size which can easily accommodate social distancing for more members, and good ventilation is provided by opening windows along two side of the room. For anyone concerned about Covid we are Zooming meetings from the hall to them at home.
If you’d like to know more about the club we can be reached by email at ivybridgecameraclub@yahoo.co.uk or by using the “Contact Us” page on our website www.ivybridgecameraclub.org.
